Milwaukee Police Crash Reconstruction Unit officers are investigating a fatal crash that occurred this morning about 1:50 a.m. this morning at N. 27th St. & W. St. Paul Ave.
Preliminary reports are that a 24-year-old woman in a 2004 red Kia van was northbound on N. 27th St. approaching the traffic signal at St. Paul Ave. Witnesses tell police that the car was traveling at a high rate of speed and disregarded the red stop light at the intersection. She collided with a black Lincoln LS. When those two cars collided, a third vehicle was struck.
The driver of the Kia was pronounced dead at the scene. The two passengers in her vehicle were taken to a local hospital where they are in surgery at this time and no condition is currently available. The drivers of the other two vehicles, the only occupants, also were taken to a local hospital for what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
The Milwaukee Police Crash Reconstruction Unit will conduct a thorough investigation of the scene to determine what factors led to the crash. They reconstruct the scene, conduct extensive witness interviews and analyze evidence.
