Memorial Day Weekend Violence Report: May 27-28, 2017

Milwaukee Police are investigating the following incidents from the Memorial Day weekend (May 27-28, 2017):

*A non-fatal shooting that happened around 3:40 a.m. on May 27 in the 2500 block of S. 13th Street. A 26-year-old Milwaukee man was shot during circumstances that are unclear at this time. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. MPD continues to seek a motive and search for suspect(s).

*A double non-fatal shooting that happened around 12:25 p.m. on May 27 in the 5000 block of N. 22nd Street. A 30-year-old man and a 38-year-old man were part of a group who began to fight and shots were fired. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. Both men were arrested for Recklessly Endangering Safety and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. MPD is seeking another suspect from this incident.

*A homicide that happened around 1:40 p.m. on May 27 in the 1900 block of N. 29th Street. A 37-year-old Milwaukee man was shot during an argument with a known male suspect. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died. MPD is currently searching for the known male suspect.   UPDATE (5/30/17):   A 29-year-old man was arrested in connection with this crime.  MPD will present the case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.

*A double non-fatal shooting that happened around 3:10 p.m. in the 3400 block of N. 67th Street. Two victims, a 7-year-old female and a 27-year-old female, were injured in the shooting. Our preliminary investigation reveals the 27-year-old female was in an argument with a known male suspect when a gun discharged and the victims were struck. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. MPD is currently seeking the known male suspect.

*A non-fatal shooting that happened around 8:20 p.m. on May 27 in the 2900 block of N. 17th Street. A 29-year-old woman was shot during an argument with a 33-year-old woman. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The 33-year-old woman was taken into custody. Our investigation is ongoing.

*A double non-fatal shooting that happened around 8:40 p.m. on May 27 in the 6200 block of W. Kaul Avenue. A fight broke out on the street and gunfire struck two victims, an 8-year-old male and a 27-year-old man. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. MPD continues to search for suspect(s).

*A non-fatal shooting that happened around 10:00 p.m. on May 27 in the 2400 block of N. Buffum Street. A 30-year-old man was shot by a suspect in a passing vehicle. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. MPD continues to seek a motive and search for suspect(s).

*A homicide that happened around 10:45 p.m. on May 27 in the 3000 block of N. 54th Street. A 29-year-old man was shot during circumstances that are still being investigated at this time. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. MPD continues to seek a motive and search for suspect(s).

*A non-fatal shooting that happened around 2:30 a.m. on May 28 in the 1900 block of S. 35th Street. The victim, a 25-year-old man, was shot during a fight with multiple suspects. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. MPD continues to search for suspect(s).  UPDATE (5/30/17): A 24-year-old male and a 23-year-old female were arrested in connection with this crime.  MPD will present the case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.

*A homicide that happened around 5:30 p.m. on May 28 in a gas station parking lot at N. Teutonia Avenue and W. Hampton Avenue.  Upon arrival, officers located a deceased 24-year-old female shooting victim.  The shooting happened during an altercation between known individuals.  Soon thereafter, a 23-year-old female suspect was arrested in regards to this incident.  The investigation is continuing and no other suspects are being sought.

*A homicide that happened around 9:40 p.m. on May 28 in the 4700 block of N. Hopkins Street.  Upon arrival, officers located a 31-year-old male shooting victim who was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The investigation is ongoing and no suspects have been taken into custody.  UPDATE (5/30/17): A 26-year-old man was arrested out-of-state for this crime.  MPD is working to bring him back to Wisconsin and will present the case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.
