MPD Detectives David Lopez and Vincent Lopez were the lead case agents on a wiretap case named “The East Side Story.”
A total of 45 people were indicted in this investigation, with the leader of the drug trafficking organization being sentenced on November 6.
Earl R. Williams, Jr., 27, was convicted as part of a cocaine distribution ring operating on the city’s and was sentenced yesterday to nearly 20 years in federal prison. He was arrested a year ago along with four other men charged with selling powder and crack cocaine in the area since 2008.
Williams was also convicted of money laundering, using drug sale proceeds to buy expensive jewelry, much of which has been ordered forfeited to the government, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.
Detectives Lopez and Lopez are assigned to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area.
