MPD Investigating Two North Side Shootings, Working to Determine if Relateed

The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating two non-fatal shootings that occurred within several blocks from each other, but appear unrelated at this time.  Around 8:15 p.m. on March 8, a 27-year-old male arrived at a local hospital suffering from a serious gunshot injury. Preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting occurred in the 2500 block of N. 35th Street. The victim was a passenger in a vehicle when at some point gunshots were fired into the vehicle by an unknown suspect. The victim was struck by the gunfire. He is expected to survive his injuries.

At 9:40 p.m., a Shotspotter alert was activated in the 2400 block of N. 41st Street. Shortly after the activation, officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of W. Clarke Street for the report of a non-fatal shooting. Officers arrived to find a 21- year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim reported he was walking in the area when several gunshots were fired by an unknown assailant, for unknown reasons.  He was treated on the scene and conveyed to a local hospital by the Milwaukee Fire Department.  Detectives from the Milwaukee Police Department continue to investigate both shootings to determine a motive and if they are related.
