MPD Invites Community to “Tweetalong”

Milwaukee Police today will launch its first “Tweetalong” for the community to ride along with officers without leaving the house.

Today, Tactical Enforcement Unit Officers Torrey Lea and Jon Witkowski – two decorated officers who are dedicated to returning neighborhoods back to the people who live there and ridding the streets of crime, fear and disorder – will post Tweets during their shift to the Milwaukee Police Department’s Twitter account @milwaukeepolice using the hashtag #mpdtweetalong

Several police departments around the country including Dallas and Seattle, “tweet” during officers’ shifts to provide the community a snippet of the life of a street officer during a shift, sharing stories and photos from their tour of duty. Officers Lea and Witkowski look forward to seeing you on the street!

Future tweetalongs will follow every police district, detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau, crime scene evidence investigators and a day with Police Chief Edward A. Flynn.
