Two Milwaukee Police officers have been injured following a hit and run crash on the City’s Northwest Side. Preliminary information reveals the officers were on foot patrol near N. Sherman Boulevard and W. Villard Avenue around 4:55 p.m. when the suspect’s vehicle struck another vehicle and then struck the officers. The striking vehicle fled the scene and MPD is actively seeking that vehicle. The officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. The injured are both assigned to District 7 and one is a 54-year-old male with 14 years of service and the other is a 43-year-old male with nine years of service. MPD’s investigation into the incident is ongoing.
UPDATE (7/21/17 at 7:05 a.m.): Milwaukee Police have arrested the suspect and located the suspect’s vehicle from the July 20 hit-and-run crash on the Northwest Side. The driver, an 18-year-old man, was arrested in the 5500 block of N. 37th Street for 2nd Degree Reckless Injury, 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Hit and Run (Great Bodily Harm), and Hit and Run (Injury). The car was not stolen. Three passengers inside the car were also arrested for Duty to Report-Accident (Passenger) and issued citations. MPD will present the case against the driver in the coming days to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office. The injured officers have been released from the hospital and our investigation is ongoing.
