Milwaukee Police Officer and a suspect were injured on January 18th when an officer discharged his firearm when called to a domestic disturbance.
On Thursday, January 18th, around 5:50 pm, District 3 Officers responded to a call regarding an armed suspect in the 600 block of S Hawley Road. Officers encountered a suspect who was armed with knives. During the incident an officer fired his duty weapon, striking the suspect in the leg and an another officer was inadvertently struck in the foot by gunfire.
The suspect is a 48-year old Milwaukee man. He suffered a non-life threatening gun shot wound to the leg and was taken to a local hospital. He is in police custody.
The injured officer is a 25-year old man with 5.5 years experience, assigned to District 3. He suffered an injury to his foot and is being treated at the hospital.
The officer who fired the weapon is a 21-year old man with under a year of experience and is also assigned to District 3. He has been placed on administrative duty as is protocol. The MPD Metropolitan Investigations Unit is on scene and is investigating.
