Officers Interrupt Shooting, Arrest Suspect

Neighborhood Task Force Officers Rachel Golbeck and Jose Viera were looking for a suspect on Tuesday about 6:05 p.m. when they were flagged down for a shooting in the 1300 block of N. 33rd St. The witness described the auto used and also stated that the victim was pushed into that car. Officers Goldbeck and Viera searched the area and came across the victim being shot a second time. After a brief foot chase Officer Viera took one suspect into custody. Officers Goldbeck and Viera administered first aid until paramedics arrived, likely saving the victim’s life.

Here is the story:

The victim was in an altercation with the suspects who had driven to the victim’s location in the 1200 block of N. 32 St. The suspects attempted to place a hood over the head of the victim. As the victim struggled, one suspect shot him in the leg striking a femoral artery. The suspects then pushed the victim in their auto and drove to the alley in the 1300 block of N. 33 St. The suspect then shot the victim again in the arm while victim was in their auto, however, the completion of this crime was interrupted by Officers Goldbeck and Viera. Upon their arrival the suspects ran and the suspected shooter was taken into custody and the gun was recovered. The suspect was arrested for Attempt Homicide, Kidnapping, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
