October 26th, 2012 by milwaukeepolice

Officers Michael Gasser and Andrew Marx responded to the area of N. 30th Street and W. Atkinson Avenue for a subject with a gun call on Octobert 12, 2012. The caller provided vehicle information, including a license plate and reported the subjects were armed with a “Mac-10″ style gun.

The officers located the vehicle at its registered address and then approached the rear of the residence, first clearing the vehicle and then maintaining cover on the back door. Officer Gasser stood at the open back door and began metering the upper landing. As he was doing so, a subject came up from the basement holding a rifle. This subject observed Officer Gasser, threw the rifle, and ran back downstairs. Officers Gasser and Marx called five subjects up from the basement, taking them all into custody without incident. Recovered from the incident was a rifle, a black “Mac-10″ style BB Gun and marijuana.

Three of the subjects were charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm; one subject was charged with Possession of a Dangerous Weapon by a Child, and there were also charges for Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent To Deliver (Marijuana).

Officer Gasser showed great restraint when confronted by an armed subject. Additionally, Officers Gasser and Marx quickly and safely took the five subjects into custody in an extremely chaotic and charged atmosphere. The officers continue to show their dedication in reducing violent crime in the city of Milwaukee, and especially in District Five. Their efforts are to be commended.
