Following are events that occurred overnight and that were reported to media on July 29, 2012:
The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a squad accident that occurred in the 1300 block of W. Locust Street at 11:37 pm. Officers were responding to a call when a vehicle disregarded the flashing red light and drove into the path of the squad. The officer swerved to avoid the collision and subsequently collided with a parked motor vehicle. The officer suffered minor injuries but is expected to recover.
A shooting occurred in the 4000 block of North 7th Street at 12:40 am. The victim is a 20-year-old male who sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the left hand. The victim was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The Department is investigating a squad accident that occurred at 14th and National at 1:43 am. An officer responding to a call for police collided with a motorist who drove into the path of the squad. No injuries were reported. The driver of the other vehicle is in police custody.
The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a double shooting that occurred in the 9000 block of W. Kaul at 1:56 am. The victims were on a parking lot when shots rang out. Victim #1 is a male in his 20s. He sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his right ankle. Victim #2 is a male in his 20s. He sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his right buttock. Both victims are being treated at a local hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
A shooting occurred in the 1300 block of South 23rd Street at 2:20 am. The victim is a male in his 20s who suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his left calf. The victim had a verbal exchange with an individual not known to him. The individual shot the victim one time. He was treated at a local hospital.
