Residents Hold Robber, Gun After Friend Shot

Several men held a robber and his gun after the suspect shot their friend while they were working on a car overnight.

At about 12:15 a.m. Sunday, a 36-year-old man was shot during a robbery attempt in the alley behind 2300 S. 32nd St.  A 19-year-old suspect was immediately overpowered by his would-be victims who were working on an auto in a garage, along with several people from a nearby home.  His gun was taken away and he was held until Milwaukee Police arrived.

The suspect has an extensive and violent arrest record with the Milwaukee Police Department.  The victim was shot once to the right shoulder and once to the left armpit area.  He is in stable condition at a local hospital.

District 2 officers and detectives are investigating.
