Milwaukee Police are investigating a vehicle crash that happened on Tuesday, September 19th, around 4:35 p.m. at N. Pierce Street and E. Locust Street. Just prior to the crash, a MPD officer attempted a traffic stop of a tow truck that was towing a vehicle. The tow truck fled approximately one block then crashed into an eastbound vehicle and a parked car at Pierce and Locust Streets. The driver of the tow truck (suspect) fled on foot and entered the parked vehicle of a witness who stopped near the crash. After a struggle, the suspect took the witness’ vehicle and fled the area. The witness’ vehicle has since been recovered and MPD continues to seek the suspect. Several vehicle occupants suffered serious injuries in the crash and were taken to a local hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
UPDATE (4:00 p.m. on 9/20/17): The suspect in this incident, a 29-year old woman from Milwaukee, has been arrested in western Wisconsin. MPD officers are in the process of transporting her back to Milwaukee. She faces potential charges of fleeing, hit and run causing great bodily harm, battery to a law enforcement officer, strong arm robbery, and resisting an officer. The case will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
