Milwaukee Police officers survived an encounter with an armed suspect on September 3rd. Around 10:00 pm, officers were sent to the 4400 block of N. 39th Street for a large fight in the street with armed suspects. As officers arrived there was a suspect armed with a handgun outside of a residence. The suspect fired the gun prior to officers approaching the suspect. During the ensuing confrontation the officers fired shots striking the suspect. Officers performed lifesaving measures until MFD arrived and treated the suspect. The suspect later died at the scene.
The deceased is a 37-year-old Milwaukee man and is a convicted felon. The suspect’s firearm was recovered at the scene. The officers involved are a 24-year-old male with 2.5 years of experience and a 26-year-old male with 5 years of experience. They have been placed on administrative duty per policy. The Milwaukee County Investigative team is investigating and is being led by the Wauwatosa Police Department.
