This case goes back to March 18 but a lack of evidence kept those police believe to be responsible from being prosecuted. Now, we need people to take a look at the video of the beating of a bus driver and help confirm the identities of those suspects seen in the video.
On Sunday March 18, 2012 at 6:20 p.m., four subjects were on a Milwaukee County Transit bus. They were acting disorderly, swearing and ringing the buzzer as though they wanted to get off the bus, but they didn’t actually get off the bus – not before hitting the driver in the head.
Upon stopping at 35th & Silver Spring, the first two subjects get off the bus while the third attempted to take the pad of transfers near the driver. The driver blocked the subject with his hand and told him to get off the bus. The fourth subject then punched the driver in the face with a closed fist and then got off the bus to meet up with the others, who were outside the bus laughing. They all ran eastbound from the scene.
Good work by officers identified one suspect but the case could not be processed because of insufficient evidence. We hope the community can look at the subjects in the video and help us confirm the identity of the suspects. There is a possibility that other passengers on the bus may have witnessed the offense. In the video you will see other suspects who were with the beating suspect. You can hear one of the subjects we believe has information in this case ask for a transfer and try to steal the pad of transfers right before the driver was struck in the head.
