When it came to a recent strong-arm robbery, there was an app for that.

The victim advised District 3 Police Officer Joseph Carlson that his iPhone and wallet were taken.
Officer Carlson, who has an iPhone himself, as well as knowledge of the iPhone application called “Where is my phone?” immediately downloaded the app to his personal iPhone. Officer Carlson then worked with the victim to enter information which immediately provided a Google map of the current location of the victim’s iPhone. The location was the 2700 block of W. North Ave. Officer Carlson broadcast a description of the suspect and vehicle as well as the location. Responding squads located the vehicle and arrested the 20-year-old suspect without incident. The victim’s phone was found in possession of the suspect and his wallet was recovered inside the vehicle.
The suspect confessed and was charged with Robbery-Use of Force by the District Attorney’s office.
