Some say it’s the hardest thing they’ve ever done – and that’s coming from veteran police officers.
We’re talking about the rigorous training it takes to be one of the elite – a Milwaukee Police Motorcycle Officer. Candidates were put through their paces on Milwaukee Police Harley-Davidson motorcycles this week. Chief Flynn stopped by on the last day of training, May 4, 2012 to encourage the hopefuls. Sgts. Rick Yerkes and Rob Colon showed the officers how the pros do it by first demonstrating the difficult moves through large and small orange cones set up in the Miller Park parking lot.
One breakout star of the group – Neighborhood Task Force Capt. Don Gaglione. He’s quickly becoming the Renaissance Captain – a former K-9 officer, he has passed bicycle officer training, police motorcycle training and runs half marathons for charity in his spare time. He inspires his troops by walking (or riding) the walk right with them!
